Setting up a Minecraft 26.1 server allows you to explore the latest features with your community. Follow this guide to get your instance running efficiently.

Choose your server type

Before starting, decide if you want to run Vanilla, Paper, or Fabric.

On AwakeNode

Navigate to the Version Changer in your panel. Select your preferred server type and version 26.1, then click install. The system will automatically configure the environment for you.

On other hosts / manually

Download the official server.jar or your chosen software's jar file from their respective websites. Upload this file to your server's root directory via SFTP and ensure your startup script points to this specific file name.

Configure server properties

Once the server files are generated, you must define your server's identity.

On AwakeNode

Use the File Manager to locate server.properties. You can edit this file directly in your browser to change settings like motd, max-players, and gamemode.

On other hosts / manually

Use an SFTP client like FileZilla to download server.properties to your local machine. Edit the file with a text editor, save your changes, and upload it back to the server, overwriting the original.

Managing RAM and startup flags

Performance depends on your allocated memory.

On AwakeNode

Memory allocation is handled automatically based on your current plan. If you require more RAM, simply upgrade your plan in the client area; the server will update its Xmx settings automatically upon restart. If you need custom startup flags, open a Support ticket and our team will apply them for you.

On other hosts / manually

You must manually edit your startup command script (usually a .sh or .bat file). Locate the -Xmx flag and adjust the value (e.g., -Xmx4G for 4GB of RAM) to match your server's requirements.
