Pay-to-Play

One server.
Everyone chips in.

Split the cost of your Minecraft server with the people who play on it. Each friend pays their own share by card, straight to us: no bank transfers, no IOUs, and nobody stuck paying for everyone.

Do the maths

See what everyone pays.

Pick a server and how many of you are splitting it. Bigger groups mean smaller shares - or a bigger server for the same money.

Shares are equal and rounded up to the penny, so they always cover the server. Each payment adds a £0.25 service fee to cover card costs.

Why it's easier

No more “can you send me your share?”

The usual way to share a server is for one person to pay and everyone else to pay them back - by bank transfer if they remember, and across borders if your group is international. Pay-to-Play takes that person out of the middle.

Without Pay-to-Play

Alexwhose turn is it to pay for the server?? 😅

I've paid for it 3 months running lol

SamI'll send you mine, what's your sort code?

Priyacan I even do a UK transfer from Germany?

server's down until someone sorts it…

Fully funded. The server is online.

Every renewal

Reminders do the chasing for you.

Each period is a new round. Everyone who hasn't paid hears from us - never from the friend who owns the server.

  1. 14 days beforeRound opens

Everyone in the group gets an email with their share.

  2. 7 days beforeReminder

Players who haven't paid yet get a nudge.

  3. 2 days beforeLast call

One more reminder, to whoever's left.

  4. Day 0Renewal date

Fully funded? Nothing changes. Short? The server pauses, files safe, and starts the moment it's paid.

  5. 7 days afterRemoved and refunded

Still unfunded: the server is removed and everyone who paid that round gets their money back.

Built in

Instant, secure, and fair to everyone.

Instant

Shares count the second they're paid. There's no waiting for transfers to clear, and the server starts the moment it's funded.

Secure

Payments are handled by Stripe, one of the world's biggest payment providers. We never see or store full card numbers.

Works from anywhere

Friends in other countries pay by card the way their bank already handles it. No IBANs, SWIFT codes or international transfer fees.

Refunded if it doesn't happen

If a round isn't funded in time, everyone who paid into it gets their money back automatically.

Pay-to-Play

Questions groups ask.

Something else on your mind?

Open a support ticket ↗
How is the cost split?+

Into equal shares, one per player. The owner picks how many players (themselves included), and each share is the server's price divided by that, rounded up to the nearest penny. Anyone can pay for more than one share - to cover a friend, say - and the owner can cover whatever's left at any time. Any rounding left over goes to the owner as account credit.

What's the service fee for?+

Every payment is its own card payment, and each one costs us a fixed fee from the card network. A £0.25 service fee is added once to each payment to cover that. It's shown before anyone pays, and it's the same whether you pay for one share or five.

Do my friends need an account?+

Yes, a free one - so each payment has a receipt and an invoice in the right person's name. It takes a minute, and the invitation link brings them straight back to pay.

What happens if the group doesn't pay in time?+

A new server waits, set up but stopped, for up to 7 days. If it isn't fully funded by then, the order is cancelled and everyone who paid is refunded. For a renewal, the round opens 14 days before the renewal date and everyone who hasn't paid gets reminders. If it's still short on the renewal date, the server pauses with its files safe; it starts again the moment the last share is paid. After a further 7 days unfunded, it's removed and that round is refunded.

    Can I turn Pay-to-Play on for a server I already have?+

Yes, for any Minecraft server you pay for normally. Open its Pay-to-Play page in your client area. The period you've already paid for stays as it is, and the group takes over from your next renewal.

Can I go back to paying for it myself?+

Any time. Turn Pay-to-Play off and you're billed for the server at its full price from its next renewal. Anything your group had already paid towards that renewal becomes credit on your account, so it comes off that bill.

    Who controls the server?+

The owner. Players who chip in can see the server's address, whether it's online, how the current round is going and their own payments - but the control panel, console and files stay with the owner.

Can people pay from outside the UK?+

Yes. Pay-to-Play takes cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay from anywhere Stripe does. Your card provider converts from pounds, so there are no international bank transfer fees, exchange-rate guesswork or account details to swap.
