How to install Fabric mods
Learn how to install Fabric mods on your Minecraft server using the AwakeNode Mod Installer or manual SFTP methods. Simple, step-by-step guide included.
Prerequisites
Before installing mods, ensure your server is running a Fabric-compatible server jar. If you are not currently on Fabric, you can switch your server type using the Version Changer in your AwakeNode panel.
Installing Mods on AwakeNode
AwakeNode provides a built-in Mod Installer that simplifies the process of adding, updating, or removing mods without manual file management.
- Log in to your AwakeNode panel and select your server.
- Navigate to the Mod Installer tab.
- Search for your desired mod or upload a
.jarfile directly. - Click Install. The panel will automatically place the file in the correct directory and restart your server.
Installing Mods Manually
If you prefer to manage files manually or are using a host without an automated installer, you can use the File Manager or an SFTP client (such as FileZilla).
- Download the Fabric mod
.jarfile from a trusted source like Modrinth or CurseForge. - Access your server files via the File Manager in the panel or connect via SFTP.
- Locate the
modsfolder in your server's root directory. If it does not exist, create a new folder namedmods. - Upload your mod
.jarfiles into this folder. - Restart your server to load the mods.
Important Notes
- Dependencies: Many Fabric mods require the Fabric API to function. Ensure this is installed in your
modsfolder first. - Version Matching: Always verify that the mod version matches your server's Minecraft version.
- Startup Flags: If a mod requires specific JVM arguments to run, please open a ticket with Support. Clients cannot edit startup flags directly, but our team can apply these for you.
- RAM: If your server crashes due to "Out of Memory" errors after adding mods, you may need to upgrade your plan. On AwakeNode, your RAM allocation updates automatically upon upgrading.
