How to install NeoForge on server

Overview

NeoForge is a popular mod loader for modern Minecraft versions. Installing it allows you to run a wide variety of community-made mods on your server. This guide covers how to set up NeoForge on your AwakeNode server and how to handle the process manually on other hosts.

Installing NeoForge on AwakeNode

AwakeNode simplifies the installation process through our integrated control panel, removing the need for complex manual file management.

Using the Version Changer

1. Log in to your AwakeNode panel.
2. Navigate to the Version Changer tab.
3. Select your desired version of NeoForge from the dropdown menu.
4. Click Apply. The system will automatically download and configure the necessary files for your server.

Once the process completes, your server will be ready to run NeoForge. You can then use the Mod Installer to add your preferred mods directly through the browser.

Installing NeoForge Manually

If you are using a different host or prefer manual control, you must perform the installation via SFTP.

Step-by-Step Manual Setup

1. Download the NeoForge installer JAR from the official NeoForge website for your specific Minecraft version.
2. Run the installer on your local computer, selecting the "Install Server" option and choosing an empty folder as the destination.
3. Once finished, connect to your server via an SFTP client (such as FileZilla).
4. Upload all generated files to your server's root directory.
5. Ensure your startup command points to the correct NeoForge JAR file.

Note: If you are on AwakeNode and require specific JVM startup flags for your modpack, please open a ticket with our Support team, as these cannot be edited by users directly.

Important Considerations

• RAM Requirements: Modded servers are resource-intensive. If your server crashes with 'Out of Memory' errors, you may need to upgrade your plan. On AwakeNode, your Xmx memory allocation updates automatically when you upgrade your plan.
• Mod Compatibility: Always ensure your mods are compatible with the specific version of NeoForge you have installed.
• File Management: Use the AwakeNode File Manager to easily upload or delete mod files without needing to reconnect your SFTP client.
