Plasmo Voice is a powerful proximity voice chat plugin that adds immersive audio positioning to your Minecraft server. It enhances social interaction by allowing players to communicate based on their in-game location, making it an essential tool for adventure and roleplay servers.

It supports a wide range of loaders including Paper, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Velocity, and is compatible with Minecraft versions 1.16.4 through 1.19.4.

Installing Plasmo Voice

On AwakeNode

  1. Log in to your AwakeNode panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Open the Plugin Installer from the sidebar.
  3. Search for "Plasmo Voice" and click Install.
  4. Restart your server to apply the changes.

On other hosts / manually

  1. Download the latest version of Plasmo Voice from Modrinth.
  2. Connect to your server via SFTP.
  3. Upload the downloaded .jar file to your server's plugins folder (or mods folder if using Fabric/Forge).
  4. Restart your server to generate the configuration files.

Common issues

  • Voice not working: Ensure that the server port is correctly configured in the plasmo-voice config file and that the port is open in your firewall.
  • Version Mismatch: Verify that your server version is between 1.16.4 and 1.19.4. Using an unsupported version will prevent the plugin from loading.
  • Client-side issues: Remind players that they must also have the Plasmo Voice mod installed on their own Minecraft client to hear proximity audio.

Performance

Plasmo Voice is generally lightweight, but proximity voice chat can increase network bandwidth usage. If you notice server lag during high-player counts, ensure your server plan has sufficient RAM. If you require custom startup flags to optimize network performance, please open a ticket with AwakeNode Support, as these cannot be modified by users. For other hosts, you may need to adjust your Java startup flags manually to allocate more resources.
