Simple Voice Chat

Simple Voice Chat brings proximity-based voice communication directly into your Minecraft server. It is a highly versatile tool that supports a wide range of loaders including Paper, Fabric, Forge, and Velocity, allowing players to communicate naturally within the game world.
Whether you are running a small community or a large network, this plugin adds an immersive social layer to your gameplay experience. It is compatible with Minecraft versions ranging from 1.8.8 up to 1.17.1.
Installing Simple Voice Chat
On AwakeNode
- Log in to your server panel and navigate to the Plugin Installer.
- Search for "Simple Voice Chat" and click Install.
- Restart your server to finalise the installation.
On other hosts / manually
- Download the correct version of Simple Voice Chat from Modrinth for your specific server loader (e.g., Paper, Forge, or Fabric).
- Connect to your server via SFTP.
- Upload the downloaded .jar file into your server's
pluginsormodsfolder, depending on your loader. - Restart your server to load the plugin.
Common issues
- Voice chat not working: Ensure the port specified in the plugin configuration is open and forwarded on your network or firewall.
- Version mismatch: Verify that the plugin version you downloaded matches your server's specific Minecraft version (e.g., 1.16.5 vs 1.17.1).
- Connection errors: Check your server logs during startup for any dependency errors, as some loaders require specific API libraries to function.
Performance
Simple Voice Chat is generally lightweight, but voice data can increase network bandwidth usage. If you notice server lag, ensure your server has sufficient RAM for your player count; if you are on AwakeNode, you can upgrade your plan at any time to automatically increase your available memory. For advanced users on other hosts, you may need to adjust your JVM startup flags to optimise garbage collection; please contact AwakeNode support if you require assistance with custom startup flags.
