Clumps
Clumps XP orbs together to reduce lag
Clumps is a utility mod designed to improve server performance by grouping experience orbs together. By reducing the number of individual entities the server needs to track, it effectively mitigates lag in high-XP scenarios like mob farms.
It is available for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge, supporting Minecraft versions from 1.10.2 through 1.16.4.
Installing Clumps
On AwakeNode
- Navigate to the Mod Installer in the AwakeNode Panel.
- Search for "Clumps" and select your preferred loader (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge).
- Click Install and restart your server.
On other hosts / manually
- Download the correct version of Clumps for your loader and Minecraft version from Modrinth.
- Use an SFTP client to upload the
.jarfile to the/modsfolder in your server directory. - Restart your server to apply the changes.
Common issues
- Mod loader mismatch: Ensure the version of Clumps you downloaded matches your server's mod loader (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge). Using the wrong one will cause the server to fail to start.
- Version incompatibility: Check that the mod version strictly matches your Minecraft server version. Using a 1.16.4 version on a 1.12.2 server will result in a crash.
- Missing dependencies: Some versions of Clumps may require specific API mods. Check the Modrinth page to ensure all required dependencies are present in your
/modsfolder.
Performance
Clumps is highly efficient and typically reduces CPU usage by lowering the entity count during intense XP drops. Because this mod reduces the number of active entities, it can help stabilise tick times on busy servers.
If you find your server is still struggling with lag, you may need to allocate more RAM. On AwakeNode, simply upgrade your plan and the memory limits will update automatically. If you are on another host, you must manually update the -Xmx flag in your startup command.
