Xaero's World Map is a utility mod that adds a full-screen, interactive world map to your Minecraft experience, allowing you to view explored terrain in real-time. It is designed to work seamlessly alongside Xaero's Minimap to provide comprehensive navigation and exploration features.

The mod is highly compatible, supporting Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt loaders across a wide range of Minecraft versions from 1.7.10 up to 1.18.2.

Installing Xaero's World Map

On AwakeNode

  1. Navigate to the Mod Installer in your server control panel.
  2. Search for "Xaero's World Map" and select your preferred loader (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge).
  3. Click Install. The panel will automatically place the file in your mods folder and restart the server.

On other hosts / manually

  1. Download the correct version of Xaero's World Map from Modrinth that matches your server's Minecraft version and loader.
  2. Access your server files via SFTP or the File Manager.
  3. Upload the downloaded .jar file into the mods folder in your server's root directory.
  4. Restart your server to load the mod.

Common issues

  • Version Mismatch: Ensure the mod version exactly matches your server's Minecraft version. Using a 1.18.2 mod on a 1.16.5 server will cause a crash.
  • Missing Dependencies: Some versions of Xaero's mods may require additional libraries or the companion minimap mod to function correctly. Check the Modrinth page for specific dependencies.
  • Client-Side vs Server-Side: While this mod is primarily client-side, ensure it is installed correctly on both the server and the player's local Minecraft client if you are using server-side map features.

Performance

Xaero's World Map is generally lightweight, but generating map data for large, newly explored areas can cause brief spikes in CPU usage. If you notice performance degradation, ensure your server has sufficient RAM allocated to handle the increased I/O operations.

If you are on AwakeNode and experiencing lag, consider upgrading your plan to provide more headroom for modded operations; the RAM (Xmx) will update automatically. For other hosts, ensure your startup command includes appropriate -Xmx flags for your modpack size. If you require specific JVM tuning or startup flag adjustments, please contact AwakeNode support for assistance.
