Quark is a modular Minecraft mod designed as a collection of small, balanced additions that enhance the vanilla experience without drastically changing the game's core feel. It spans categories including game mechanics, technology, and utility, allowing server owners to toggle specific features to suit their community's needs.

It is available for Forge and NeoForge, supporting a wide range of Minecraft versions from 1.9.4 up to 1.21.1.

Installing Quark

On AwakeNode

  1. Navigate to your server in the AwakeNode Panel.
  2. Use the Mod Installer to search for "Quark".
  3. Select your desired version and click Install. The panel will automatically handle the file placement and dependencies.

On other hosts / manually

  1. Download the correct version of Quark for your Minecraft version and loader (Forge or NeoForge) from Modrinth.
  2. Connect to your server via SFTP.
  3. Upload the downloaded .jar file into your server's /mods directory.
  4. Restart your server to load the mod.

Common issues

  • Version Mismatch: Ensure the mod version exactly matches your server's Minecraft version and loader (Forge vs NeoForge). Using the wrong loader will cause the server to crash on startup.
  • Missing Dependencies: Some versions of Quark may require additional libraries. Check the Modrinth page for specific dependency requirements.
  • Configuration Conflicts: If you have other mods installed that modify the same game mechanics, you may need to disable conflicting features in the Quark configuration file found in the /config folder.

Performance

Quark is designed to be lightweight, but adding any mod increases the memory footprint of your server. If you experience lag or crashes after installation, you may need to upgrade your hosting plan to provide more RAM. On AwakeNode, upgrading your plan automatically adjusts your Xmx settings. If you are on another host, ensure your startup command's -Xmx flag is set to an appropriate value for your modpack size. For persistent performance issues, contact our support team to review your JVM startup flags.
