Sodium is a high-performance rendering engine replacement for Minecraft designed to dramatically improve frame rates and reduce micro-stutter. It is an essential optimization mod for players looking to enhance their game's performance.

It is compatible with Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt loaders and supports Minecraft versions 1.16.3 through 1.19.3.

Installing Sodium

On AwakeNode

  1. Navigate to the Mod Installer in your server panel.
  2. Search for 'Sodium' and select your desired version.
  3. Click Install and restart your server to apply the changes.

On other hosts / manually

  1. Download the correct version of Sodium for your loader (Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt) from Modrinth.
  2. Use your SFTP client or the File Manager to upload the .jar file to your server's /mods directory.
  3. Ensure your server is running the matching mod loader and restart the instance.

Common issues

  • Incompatible Mods: Sodium may conflict with other rendering or optimization mods. Check your server logs for 'Mixin' errors.
  • Incorrect Loader: Ensure you are using the specific version of Sodium built for your mod loader (Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt).
  • Version Mismatch: Verify that your Minecraft version (e.g., 1.19.2) matches the downloaded mod file exactly.

Performance

Sodium is highly efficient and typically reduces CPU overhead, allowing for smoother gameplay. Because it focuses on rendering, it does not require additional RAM beyond standard server requirements. If you experience performance drops, ensure your server plan has sufficient resources for your mod count. If you need to adjust memory limits, please open a ticket with AwakeNode support, or upgrade your plan to automatically increase your available RAM.
