The Twilight Forest

What it does

The Twilight Forest adds a dimension full of huge trees, structures and a chain of bosses to work through, from the Naga and Lich to the Hydra and Snow Queen. It's one of the longest-running and most loved adventure mods.

Install

1. Install it from the Mods tab for your loader and Minecraft version.
2. Restart. Every player needs the same version.

Getting there

Dig a 2 × 2 pool of water, surround it with flowers (one on each block around the edge), and throw a diamond into the water. Lightning strikes and the portal opens.

On a server

• Memory: the dimension has dense terrain and big structures. Give a server with Twilight Forest and a few other mods at least 6 GB.
• Pre-generate the area around the portal if several players explore at once. See pre-generating your world. The Twilight Forest's dimension is called twilightforest:twilight_forest.
• Progression: areas unlock as players beat earlier bosses, so players work through the dimension in order. Its config, in the config folder, has the server-side options.

Common problems

The portal doesn't open: every edge block of the pool needs a flower or plant on it, and it must be exactly 2 × 2 water.

"Mismatched mod channel list" when joining: players need the same Twilight Forest version as the server.
