YUNG's Better Mineshafts is a comprehensive world generation mod that completely overhauls abandoned mineshafts in Minecraft. It replaces the standard, repetitive vanilla structures with more intricate, varied, and rewarding layouts, significantly enhancing the exploration experience in the underground.

Installing YUNG's Better Mineshafts

On AwakeNode

  1. Download the version of YUNG's Better Mineshafts for your server's software and Minecraft version from its Modrinth page.
  2. Open your server's Files tab, go to the mods folder and upload the .jar file. You can also upload it over SFTP.
  3. Restart your server from the Console tab.

On other hosts / manually

  1. Ensure your server is running a compatible version of Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge (1.19.2 - 1.21.4).
  2. Download the correct mod file for your loader from Modrinth.
  3. Use the File Manager or an SFTP client to upload the .jar file to your server's /mods directory.
  4. Restart the server to apply the changes.

Common issues

  • Version Mismatch: Ensure the mod version matches your server's Minecraft version exactly. Using a 1.20.1 version on a 1.21.1 server will cause a crash.
  • Missing Dependencies: Some YUNG mods require 'YUNG's API'. Check the mod page on Modrinth to see if an API library is required for your specific version.
  • World Generation Conflicts: If you are using other world generation mods, ensure they are compatible. Always back up your world folder before adding major generation mods.

Performance

YUNG's Better Mineshafts generates more complex structures than vanilla, which can slightly increase CPU usage during initial chunk generation. If you notice server lag when exploring new areas, ensure your server has sufficient RAM allocated. If you are on an AwakeNode plan and experiencing performance dips, consider upgrading your plan to increase your available resources; your Xmx flags will update automatically.

Does this mod require a world reset?+

It is highly recommended to use this mod on a new world. If added to an existing world, the new mineshafts will only generate in newly explored chunks.
