BlueMap
A Minecraft mapping tool that creates 3D models of your Minecraft worlds and displays them in a web viewer.
BlueMap is a powerful mapping tool that generates high-quality 3D models of your Minecraft world, allowing players to explore your server's landscape directly through a web browser. It is compatible with a wide range of loaders including Paper, Fabric, Forge, and Spigot, supporting versions from 1.13 up to 1.16.
Installing BlueMap
On AwakeNode
- Navigate to the Plugin Installer in your server panel.
- Search for 'BlueMap' and click Install.
- Restart your server to generate the initial web files.
On other hosts / manually
- Download the appropriate BlueMap version for your server loader from Modrinth.
- Use your SFTP client to upload the
.jarfile into your server's/pluginsor/modsfolder. - Restart your server to allow the plugin to create its configuration files.
- Access the web interface by navigating to your server's IP address on the configured port (default is 8100).
Common issues
- Web interface not loading: Ensure that the port defined in
core.confis open in your firewall and that the server is not behind a restricted network. - Map generation is slow: BlueMap is resource-intensive; ensure your server has sufficient CPU headroom during the initial render.
- Missing textures: Ensure your server is running a compatible version (1.13-1.16) and that the resource pack is correctly referenced in the configuration.
Performance
BlueMap performs heavy rendering tasks that can impact CPU and disk I/O. For large worlds, we recommend scheduling renders during low-traffic periods. If your server experiences lag during map generation, consider upgrading your plan to provide more CPU resources. Note that RAM allocation (Xmx) is managed automatically on AwakeNode; if you are on another host, ensure your startup flags allow for sufficient memory overhead to handle the rendering process.
