- Works with
- Paper, Purpur, Spigot
What it does
DecentHolograms shows floating text, items and heads in the world: a welcome message at spawn, server rules, leaderboards, labels over shops. It's free, needs no other plugins, and supports PlaceholderAPI for live values.
Install
Put the jar in plugins and restart.
Commands
All commands start with /dh (short for /decentholograms). /dh h is short for /dh hologram.
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
/dh hologram create welcome &6Welcome! | Creates a hologram called welcome where you stand |
/dh line add welcome 1 &7Read the rules at /rules | Adds a line to page 1 |
/dh line set welcome 1 1 &eNew text | Changes line 1 of page 1 |
/dh line remove welcome 1 2 | Removes line 2 of page 1 |
/dh hologram movehere welcome | Moves it to where you stand |
/dh hologram delete welcome | Deletes it |
/dh hologram list | Lists all holograms |
Items and heads
Lines starting with #ICON: show an item:
/dh line add welcome 1 #ICON: DIAMOND
Live values
With PlaceholderAPI installed, placeholders work in lines:
/dh line add welcome 1 &7Players online: &f%server_online%
Common problems
Placeholders show as text: install PlaceholderAPI and the expansion for that placeholder.
Holograms don't show for some players: they may be further away than the display range. Each hologram has a range you can raise.
Editing the file did nothing: holograms are saved in plugins/DecentHolograms/holograms/. After editing a file by hand, run /dh reload.
Performance
Light. Holograms with placeholders that update very often, multiplied across many holograms, cost a little. Raise the update interval for busy ones.
Questions
Do players need a mod to see holograms?
No. They're made from normal game entities.
Can I make clickable holograms?
Yes, by adding actions to a hologram so clicking it runs a command.
