FancyNpcs

FancyNpcs is a simple, lightweight, and fast NPC plugin designed for Paper and Folia servers. By utilising packets, it allows you to create and manage custom non-player characters for decoration or server utility without the overhead of traditional entity-based NPC plugins.

Installing FancyNpcs

On AwakeNode

1. Download the version of FancyNpcs for your server's software and Minecraft version from its Modrinth page.
2. Open your server's Files tab, go to the plugins folder and upload the .jar file. You can also upload it over SFTP.
3. Restart your server from the Console tab.

On other hosts / manually

1. Download the latest FancyNpcs jar file from the official Modrinth page.
2. Connect to your server via SFTP or use your web-based File Manager.
3. Upload the file into your server's /plugins directory.
4. Restart your server to complete the installation.

Common issues

• NPCs not appearing: Ensure you are running a supported server jar (Paper or Folia) and that the plugin version matches your Minecraft server version.
• Commands not working: Check the server console for any "Plugin failed to load" errors during startup, which usually indicates an incompatible version.
• Configuration errors: If you modify the config.yml file, ensure you use a YAML validator to prevent syntax errors that stop the plugin from loading.

Performance

FancyNpcs is designed to be lightweight by using packets, which significantly reduces the load on your server's CPU compared to entity-based NPC plugins. Because it does not spawn actual entities in the world, it has a minimal impact on your RAM usage.

If you notice performance degradation after adding a large number of NPCs, ensure your server is running on a modern Paper or Folia build. If you require more resources for a high-player-count server, you can upgrade your plan via the AwakeNode Panel, which will automatically adjust your memory limits without needing manual configuration.
