JourneyMap is a powerful utility and adventure mod that provides real-time mapping of your Minecraft world. It allows players to view their surroundings in-game or through a web browser as they explore, making it an essential tool for navigation and world management.

It supports a wide range of loaders including Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Paper, and Quilt, with compatibility spanning versions from 1.7.10 up to 1.20.2.

Installing JourneyMap

On AwakeNode

  1. Navigate to your server in the panel and select the Mod Installer or Plugin Installer.
  2. Search for "JourneyMap" and click Install.
  3. Restart your server to apply the changes.

On other hosts / manually

  1. Download the correct version of JourneyMap from Modrinth that matches your server's loader and Minecraft version.
  2. Connect to your server via SFTP.
  3. Upload the file to the mods folder (for Fabric/Forge/NeoForge/Quilt) or the plugins folder (for Paper).
  4. Restart your server.

Common issues

  • Version Mismatch: Ensure the JourneyMap version exactly matches your server's Minecraft version and mod loader. Using an incompatible version will cause the server to crash on startup.
  • Client-Side Requirements: JourneyMap is primarily a client-side mod. While it can be installed on the server, players must also have the mod installed in their local Minecraft client to see the map features.
  • Plugin/Mod Conflicts: If you are running other mapping or world-generation mods, they may conflict with JourneyMap. Check your server logs for errors if the map fails to render.

Performance

JourneyMap can be resource-intensive, especially when exploring new chunks, as it constantly updates the map data. If you notice server lag, ensure you are not running too many other heavy plugins simultaneously. If you require more resources, you may need to upgrade your hosting plan; on AwakeNode, your RAM allocation (Xmx) updates automatically upon upgrading. For other hosts, ensure your startup command's -Xmx flag is configured correctly for your server's needs. If you require specific JVM tuning for your hardware, please contact support.
