WorldGuard
WorldGuard lets you and players guard areas of land against griefers and undesirables as well as tweak and disable various gameplay features of Minecraft.
WorldGuard is a powerful management and utility plugin that allows server administrators to protect specific areas of land from griefing and unwanted modifications. It provides extensive control over gameplay features, enabling you to disable or tweak mechanics to suit your server's specific requirements.
Supporting Bukkit, Folia, Paper, and Spigot, WorldGuard is an essential tool for maintaining order on both survival and creative servers. It is compatible with Minecraft versions 1.21 through 1.21.11, as well as 26.1 and 26.1.1.
Installing WorldGuard
On AwakeNode
- Log in to your server's control panel.
- Navigate to the 'Plugin Installer' tab.
- Search for 'WorldGuard' and click 'Install'.
- Restart your server to finalise the installation.
On other hosts / manually
- Download the latest WorldGuard jar file from Modrinth.
- Connect to your server via SFTP.
- Upload the file to the 'plugins' folder in your server's root directory.
- Restart your server to generate the configuration files.
Common issues
- Plugin not loading: Ensure you are running a compatible server type (Paper, Spigot, Folia, or Bukkit) and that you have installed the required WorldEdit dependency.
- Regions not protecting: Verify that you have created the region correctly using the WorldEdit wand and the
/rg definecommand. - Permissions errors: Ensure you have a permissions plugin like LuckPerms installed, as WorldGuard relies on these to manage command access.
Performance
WorldGuard is highly optimised, but large-scale region protection can impact CPU usage if thousands of regions are checked simultaneously. To maintain performance, avoid overlapping too many complex regions. If you experience lag, please check your server's timings report. If you require more resources to handle a high volume of regions, consider upgrading your plan; on AwakeNode, your RAM allocation will update automatically without requiring manual configuration of startup flags.
Supported versions: 1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.7, 1.21.8, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2
