- Works with
- Paper, Purpur, Spigot
What it does
Geyser translates between Bedrock and Java so console, phone and Windows Bedrock players can join a Java server. On its own, Geyser still needs each Bedrock player to sign in with a Java account. Floodgate removes that: Bedrock players join with just their Xbox account.
Install
- Install Geyser and Floodgate from geysermc.org, both for your server software, into
plugins. - In
plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml, set:
remote:
auth-type: floodgate
- Restart the server.
Bedrock players then join with your server's address and Geyser's Bedrock port. See how to give Geyser its own port.
Bedrock player names
Floodgate puts a prefix on Bedrock players' names so they can't clash with Java players. By default it's a dot: Steve on Bedrock becomes .Steve. Change it with username-prefix in plugins/floodgate/config.yml.
Use the prefixed name in commands: op .Steve, ban .Steve.
Whitelists
To whitelist a Bedrock player before they've joined, use Floodgate's command:
fwhitelist add .Steve
With a proxy (Velocity or BungeeCord)
Install Floodgate on the proxy and on every backend server, and copy key.pem from the proxy's Floodgate folder to each backend's Floodgate folder. If the keys don't match, Bedrock players are kicked when moving between servers.
Common problems
Bedrock players asked to sign in to Java: auth-type isn't set to floodgate, or Floodgate didn't start. Check the console.
"Please connect through the official Geyser" or kicks on proxies: the key.pem files don't match. Copy the proxy's to every backend.
Skins don't show for Bedrock players: skins are uploaded through Geyser's servers and can take a moment to appear.
Questions
Do Bedrock players need to buy Java Edition?
Not with Floodgate. They join with their Microsoft account from Bedrock.
Does Floodgate work on Fabric?
Yes. There's a Floodgate mod for Fabric alongside the Geyser Fabric mod.
