TAB

What it does

TAB changes what players see when they hold Tab: a header and footer, coloured names with rank prefixes, sorted by rank, plus name tags above heads and an optional sidebar scoreboard. It works on Paper and Spigot and also on Velocity and BungeeCord proxies.

Install

1. Put the jar in plugins and restart.
2. Install PlaceholderAPI if you want to show things like ping, balance or online count.
3. For ranks, install LuckPerms. TAB reads prefixes and groups from it.

Set it up

Settings are in plugins/TAB/config.yml. The main parts:

Header and footer, under header-footer:

Prefixes and sorting come from your groups in groups.yml, or straight from LuckPerms prefixes if you use those.

Sorting by rank is under scoreboard-teams → sorting-types, for example GROUPS:owner,admin,mod,default.

After editing, run tab reload in the console.

Common problems

Names aren't sorted: check the group names in sorting-types match your LuckPerms group names exactly.

Placeholders show as text: install PlaceholderAPI and the expansion for that placeholder.

Name tags flicker or clash: another plugin is also changing name tags or teams. Turn off that feature in one of them.

Performance

Fine for most servers. Animations and placeholders that refresh very often cost a little CPU per player. Raise refresh intervals in the config if you have lots of players.
